Soybean prices firmed on Thursday after 3 straight days of declines to close 3 ½ cents higher. Weekly export sales for Soybeans were in line with expectations. The session was generally quiet opening in line with the night session and breaking early and slowly gaining strength into the close. Funds were net buyers of an estimated 1,500 Contracts of beans, bought 1,000 Oil and 1,500 meal. Volume was extremely light once again. Soybeans traded 79,098 Meal 29,800 Oil 51,347.
Opening call higher. Expectations for today’s trade to be light volume ahead of the long 3 day Labor Day Holiday weekend. Informa is expected to release production estimates this morning around 10:30 am. Trade is lookinf for lower yield and production estimates from them. Allendale projected bean production at a record 3.433 bil bu. with a yield of 44.0 bpa. Look to be a buyer of November beans at 1012 and risk a close below $10.00. Overnight Chinese Soybeans, Meal and Oil futures closed higher.
Early Opening Calls: Soybeans 5-7 cents higher, Oil .20 to .30 higher and Meal .50 to $1.00 higher.
